Dr. Khalid Al Sulaiman

Dr. Khalid A. Alsulaiman is a critical care clinical pharmacist consultant and an assistant professor in pharmacy practice. Currently, he serves as the program director for critical care pharmacy residency at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. Dr. Alsulaiman completed his bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences from King Saud University (KSU) in 2011, followed by postgraduate studies at King Abdulaziz Medical City. He completed PGY-1 in 2013 and PGY-2 in critical care in 2016, becoming a board-certified critical care pharmacist by both American and Saudi councils. Additionally, he acquired American board certification in nutritional support in 2018 and is a board-certified nutritional support pharmacist. Dr. Alsulaiman furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from a Swiss Business School in 2021. He was designated as a fellow in the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) in 2022 and graduated from the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT) Program from Harvard Medical School, United States, in 2023.

Dr. Alsulaiman is passionate about his career and ensures ongoing professional development in order to deliver the best care to his patients. His assertive nature, personal, professional attitude, and emotional sensitivity to patients make him a competent, effective, and respectful clinical pharmacist. He is the primary author of “Pharmacy Resident Shortcut” as well as “Critical Care Cornerstone”. Moreover, he served as a reviewer for the book entitled “Critical Care Prep Course” by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) in 2020, 2021, and 2022. 

Dr. Alsulaiman’s research interests in critically ill patients have developed despite a full-time critical care practice. He is actively involved in research and has several publications in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, he has many ongoing types of research, including randomized control trials. Moreover, he served as a peer-reviewer for several high-impact journals. Dr. Alsulaiman is recently nominated and inducted into SIGMA Xi, one of the oldest and most prestigious honor Scientific Research Honor Societies. Dr. Alsulaiman’s visionary leadership extends beyond research into a pivotal role in shaping the future of pharmacy; he is the founder of Saudi critical care pharmacy research (SCAPE) platform; the first pharmacists-led multidisciplinary collaborative research model in the region. SCAPE Platform’s vision is to fortify a collaborative research culture that involves actively constructing, establishing networks, mentoring, empowering, facilitating, and fostering the exchange of research ideas among Saudi Arabian and international researchers. The platform plays a pivotal role in empowering trainees, students, and junior researchers by enabling them to actively participate and engage in a multitude of research endeavors.
